Stealth Your CD Drive

  1. Find the drive bay covers that came with your case. (Hopefully you still have them.) Take a look at the back of the cover and decide what you want to cut off. I like to take off everything but the very front surface so it's as thin as possible. Before and After Pictures
  2. Use the double-sided tape to secure the bay cover. First, put the tape on the drive, as shown here. Next, place the bay cover over the drive and press it into place, as I do here. The tape should let the cover flex enough for you to press the eject button. You might have to glue a small spacer on the cover if there's a gap between the cover and the button. I used a piece of pencil eraser.
  3. Be sure to push the drive back far enough so that the newly stealthed drive is flush with the front of the case. See an image.

Be creative. You can cut out holes for the activity LED. This mod also lets you have more surface area for painting your case.
